Helmet galore

Helmets were only recently made compulsory in Vietnam, and today you can chose from a lot, as you can see. I’m not sure of the efficiency of wearing those, but the fine for not wearing one costs as much as the helmet itself – so you might as well pick a fancy one!

  • Hey Rachel,

they made it mandatory since December 15th last year I believe. My colleagues told me the adoption was phenomenal: from one day to the next, you went from close to no helmets at all, to 99% of the riders wearing one!
    I hope you’re enjoying Hanoi.

  • First, my apologies for a bit of cut and paste commenting. I have been doing the rounds via Bloglines and looking at all the pictures from my favourite photo blogs, but haven’t been leaving comments. Generally, I try to comment as much as I can (I know how good it is for ‘morale’ to know that someone is out there appreciating them), but after the birth of my second son, I am a bit knackered to think up something witty and insightful on the hop. Thus the resort to Control+C and Control+P!

  • The government made helmets mandatory here in Manila only last year too. But I have yet to see helmets this colorful. Fun! Hmmm, I think I’m going to tell some of the entrepreneurship students about this.
